Hampshire combines the Solent coastline with huge swathes of unspoilt countryside, including two National Parks, each has its own unique wild beauty. The South Downs National Park has over 2,000 miles of trails and routes to explore, while the New Forest is an ancient area of common land, where cattle, ponies and donkeys roam freely. The Test and Meon Valleys offer more opportunities for outdoor pursuits and the exploration of pretty towns and villages.
The city of Winchester, with its famous cathedral, is one of Hampshire’s main attractions. On the coast, Portsmouth boasts the Historic Dockyards and vibrant Gunwharf Quays, while Southampton is an important port and home of the International Boat Show. Lymington, on the mouth of the Solent, is where the ‘yachtie’ community congregate.
