The West Sussex coast has wonderful beaches the whole length of it, including The Witterings, and the UK’s longest at Littlehampton. There’s also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty encircling Chichester Harbour, an important nature reserve. Chichester itself is a vibrant cathedral city with an arty vibe; the Pallant House Gallery and the Festival Theatre are very well respected.
A great proportion of West Sussex is within the South Downs National Park. As well as wild countryside, walking trails and fabulous views, there are other attractions to seek out. They include Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Arundel Castle and Petworth House and Park. Petworth is a favourite destination for antique lovers, and Goodwood is famous for racing and motorsport.
The A23 and M23 slice through West Sussex, with links to Gatwick Airport and the M25 beyond. The airport is also on a direct rail route to London; it’s about half an hour to London, making West Sussex a firm favourite with anyone who works there.
