There are many advantages to choosing new when you buy a house or apartment, we have listed below some of our favourites.
New means new
Obvious perhaps, but when everything is new, you’re not going to lose sleep over appliances going wrong, and possibly even being too old to repair; to the fabric of the building being substandard; to putting right the previous owners’ mistakes or lack of maintenance. Every Consero home is built to the highest standards, and we don’t cut corners when it comes to selecting the best in kitchen appliances, plumbing and heating. Our homes are also covered by a 10-year warranty, the first two years of which are managed by us.
Energy efficiency
With their higher levels of insulation and inclusions such as low energy lighting, new homes have always been less expensive to run. This will improve further still, as the Government has recently announced a new suite of energy efficiency standards to which all new builds must fully adhere to by 2025. This will reduce energy consumption (and bills) with a 31% reduction in carbon emissions.
Sustainable living
This is partly covered by energy efficiency, but reputable developers are making great efforts to site new homes close to amenities such as shops, schools and public transport to reduce your reliance on cars. At Consero we’re also thinking ahead by including electric car charging points at all of our developments.
Home safe home
New homes also have higher safety standards, with items such as smoke and CO2 alarms, fire-retardant materials and effective locking systems included as standard.
It’s a matter of taste
New homes are typically decorated in pale neutral hues, so you won’t have to spend money getting rid of the previous owner’s colour scheme or garish ‘feature wall’. Consero homes are exceptionally stylish, as we use the same interior design teams who work on the bespoke mansion homes we created for some of the world’s wealthiest, and most exacting, clients.
Help to Buy
The low deposit, equity loan scheme is available for new properties only. The rules change on 31st March 2021, meaning that only first-time buyers are eligible, making it a more affordable way to purchase a brand new home with only a 5% deposit required. At Consero’s Britannia Wharf, selected apartments are available with using the Help to Buy scheme.
Built for modern life
New homes are designed for how people want to live today. Large, open plan kitchen/dining areas; direct garden access via glazed doors; a balcony for an apartment; bathrooms with built-in storage; space for a home office or study; plenty of wardrobes and cupboards; and underfloor heating are all features you’ll find in most Consero homes.
Ready when you are
Anyone who’s ever been caught in a frustrating chain when trying to buy a home will appreciate this point. A new home means no upward chain, and once you’ve paid your reservation fee, you know that a home will be waiting for you.
